Today, 07/28/2012 at 8:00am, it is an absolutely gorgeous day for riding my bicycle around the Buffalo Bayou. 80+ degrees, sun is shining, hardly a cloud in the sky and a quiet breeze to keep it cool.
This daily ride starts out at home and goes a 1/2 mile to Waugh, starting out in 13th gear to warm up. Then right turn, switching to 18th gear, to the Buffalo Bayou.
|The Bayou bike trail that I ride is approximately 9 miles, not including the ride to and fro, difficulty level about a medium, but can be as challenging as you would like to make it.|
Then, that is true about anything in life, we all have the choice, to walk the well-trodden path of the work-a-day world, or we get on the bike and ride. Going off the trail, pushing ourselves, taking to the dirt, leaving the path behind and becoming more.
Personally, I have tried that well-trodden path, a couple times, and though I have been fairly successful, I am simply unable to stay with it for an extended period of time, before the teeth begin to grind and I have to find something that is more challenging, something that will bring out the best of what I know I have in me to build.
So, in business as on the bike, it is on to the dirt, on to the next challenge, on to create more, more of me, more of my abilities, more of my life.
As our many TeamUSA Olympians, currently using all the knowledge, experience and abilities they have developed over years and years, will tell you, they did not get to the level it took to be in the Olympics by practicing on weekends, or an hour or two a couple times per week. They will tell you that it took many hours every single day, no matter their specialty, it all came down to developing the mindset and skillset of a champion.
Though you and I may not be Olympic athletes, we are still champions, we still are dedicated to developing our mindset and our skillsets.
One of the primary skillsets that we each need to dedicate ourselves to is our fitness. In the society that we live in it is more important than ever to make the time, but more importantly to invest the time. This investment in self will assist each of us in developing in many areas of our lives.
Please, do not just start jogging because you may think that is the best way to lose weight, to get in shape, reach a fitness goal, it will not! Unless jogging is a passion, will become a passion through your dedication and persistance.
Select the fitness program by finding the exercises that you will love. I love to ride my bicycle, I love the pump I feel going uphill, I love the way I feel myself sucking in deep breaths of air, the panting, the sweating, the scream when I’m pushing my limits going harder and harder up those hills.
Swim, pump weights, practice yoga, dance, find the passion and then you will make it happen every day.
Find your passion, some times it may take a trial and error type of learning to find those things that just make you drive yourself to your limits. It is worth the investment of your time, it will not just make you happier, but it will give you a feeling of contentment.

Link Shortening Technology
URL shortening is a technique on the World Wide Web in which a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) may be made substantially shorter in length and still direct to the required page. This is achieved by using an HTTP Redirect on a domain name that is short, which links to the web page that has a long URL. For example, the URL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/URL_shortening can be shortened to…. Click here to read more.
